Ian P Davies

Ian Davies is Vice President of THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE™ across Europe, The Middle East and Africa. He is an optometry graduate from Manchester University who started his career in hospital optometry, university teaching and private practice. Ian has worked in the contact lens industry for 20 years, both in Europe and the United States and began his career in Research and Development.

Ian has co-authored two books on contact lenses and published and presented many papers on these and related topics. His particular interests are in communication, digital imaging, teaching techniques and aftercare. Having established the first European Vision Care Institute for Johnson & Johnson in Prague in 2006, Ian managed the roll out of the institute across the rest of the region with centres in Milan, Dubai and now Pinewood, where he is based.

David Ruston

David Ruston became Director of Professional Affairs for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care UK and Ireland in 2004. He now is additionally responsible for the Nordics and Holland. He graduated as an optometrist from City University in 1981 and his clinical experience has involved private practice and hospital based experience as well as teaching at a variety of different institutions.

He co-founded Optometric Educators, is an examiner for the College of Optometrists, a medico-legal expert witness and has lectured around the world on contact lenses. He has published many articles and contributed to several text books.

Karen Walsh

Karen Walsh is an Optometrist and Professional Affairs Manager at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. Awarded prizes for academic achievement in all three years of her degree, she graduated from Cardiff University with first class honours in 1997. She subsequently worked across all forms of clinical practice from nationwide chains to the independent setting, and spent time supervising undergraduate students at Aston University.

She has authored several clinical articles and is currently nearing completion of the City University MSc in Clinical Optometry.

She initially worked as a Professional Affairs Consultant for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care before joining them full time in 2007. Her role now encompasses providing Professional Affairs support to the UK business. She has also lectured both nationally and internationally in her role for Johnson & Johnson along with teaching at THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE™

Jane Veys

Jane is Education Director at THE VISION CARE INSTITUTE™ in the UK, across Europe, The Middle East and Africa. She has been involved in optometry for over 20 years, and has broad experience in optometric practice, education, clinical research and industry.

Following clinical practice and research experience both in UK and Australia, Jane was appointed Research Manager for the European Centre for Contact Lens Research in Manchester. Joining Johnson & Johnson in 1993, she has held senior management positions in Professional & Clinical Affairs.

Jane is a fellow of the BCLA and AAO, and has lectured and published internationally. She has authored an award winning online Continuing Education Series and published a textbook on Contact Lens Practice.
