Course Summary

This is a one day course for pre-registration optometrists who are preparing to sit the College of Optometrists’ Final Assessment. It is designed to assist students in their preparation for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) by giving them invaluable hands-on experience and one-to-one feedback.

The course will outline the different types of OSCE and consider how best to approach them. All delegates will have the opportunity to sit a one hour ‘mock’ OSCE with experienced College of Optometrists’ examiners and assessors. Each OSCE has been carefully designed to ensure the experience is as real as possible and will include all four categories of OSCE (Clinical Examination and Practical Skills, History Taking, Communication and Data Interpretation). Each delegate will get the opportunity to constructively review their performance with an examiner; greatly enhancing preparation for the Final Assessment.

A final tutorial session will help you identify other key areas for further development prior to sitting the College of Optometrists’ Final Assessment.

Please note that for this course we cannot provide assistance for accommodation and travel.

Start time: 10.00am
Finish time: 5.00pm
